I have been starting to receive a few emails from 
stating that twitter_username_number is following me. When I take a look at the users twitter home page I see at the most 5 tweets and a bazillion twitter users following this spammer account. Why? yes, why would you follow someone without checking that person out. It could be a spammer, or an internet stalker.
Jason Clarke from downloadsquad.com wrote it best:
There is a large number of very misguided people that seem to believe that the polite thing to do when someone follows you on Twitter is to follow them back. This is a ludicrous behavior.
I really believe in being polite, but not to my inconvenience. Let's all sit back and research who is following us before we also follow them and become inundated with spam tweets and emails.
